All our practitioners have government Registration and/or belong to an appropriate Professional Association (see Disclaimer below). This assures you that their qualifications and skills have been assessed and that they practise according to a Code of Ethics.

Disclaimer: All counsellors, psychotherapists, and psychologists listed in this Directory are required to be Registered and/or belong to a recognised Professional Association. Their Registraion and/or Membership status is included in their Listing or Profile. However, we will not be held responsible for any false information supplied to us. If you wish to verify that a practitioner the appropriate registration or membership, you can ask to see their Practicising Certificate or contact their Registering Board or Association who will be able to confirm their membership status. Counsellors: practitioners claiming to be counsellors do not have to be registered with the government. There are however several counselling associations in New Zealand which ensure their members have certain qualifications, have been assessed by the association as competent, and abide by a Code of Ethics. The largest of these associations is the New Zealand Association of COunsellors (NZAC) you can check if someone is a Member of NZAC online at
www.nzac.org.nz and going to "search for an NZAC counsellor".
Psychotherapists: any practitioner claiming to be a psychotherapist must be registered by the government through The Psychotherapists Board of Aoteroa New Zealand (PBANZ). You can check someones registration status online at
www.pbanz.org.nz and going to "Public Register".
