talkingworks is building a nationwide directory of professional counsellors, psychotherapists, and psychologists. It's free to browse our Directory to find useful information in the Listings and Profiles to help you choose a practitioner that best suits your individual needs.
All our practitioners have government Registration and/or belong to an appropriate Professional Association (see Disclaimer below). This assures you that their qualifications and skills have been assessed and that they practise according to a Code of Ethics.
We welcome applications from counsellors, psychotherapists, psychologists
and psychiatrists to list in all regions of the country.
Disclaimer: All counsellors, psychotherapists, and psychologists listed in this Directory are required to be Registered and/or belong to a recognised Professional Association. Their Registraion and/or Membership status is included in their Listing or Profile. However, we will not be held responsible for any false information supplied to us. If you wish to verify that a practitioner has the appropriate registration or membership, you can ask to see their Practicising Certificate or contact their Registering Board or Association who will be able to confirm their membership status. You can also check online at the links below.
practitioners claiming to be counsellors do not have to be registered with the government. and going to "search for an NZAC counsellor".
any practitioner claiming to be a psychotherapist must be registered by the government through The Psychotherapists Board of Aoteroa New Zealand (PBANZ). You can check someones registration status online at www.pbanz.org.nz
and going to "Public Register".
only psychologists who are currently registered with the New Zealand Psychologists Board and who hold a current Annual Practising Certificate can legally practise (or claim to be practising) psychology in New Zealand. You can check someones registration status online at www.psychologistsboard.org.nz
