For more than a decade I have been counselling people
through difficulties such as depression, interpersonal conflict,
anxiety, low self worth/esteem, addiction, grief, loss, and trauma. Helping
them to move past the place where they are stuck and build up
their ability to make the changes they want to make.

location. There is also some specific information about counselling for
infertility and
sexual abuse which are special interests of mine,
NZTA alcohol and drug assessments, and
supervision for health professionals.
What to Expect
Professional counselling provides a place where you will be listened to without judgement, so you can:

I provide a professional and confidential counselling service, and practice according to the New Zealand Association of Counsellors Code of Ethics. You will find that I:

At your first appointment I will do a full assessment of your situation. This to find out what it is that you want want to achieve and to build a detailed picture of what might be impacting on you, so that I can choose the most appropriate type of counselling for your needs. We will also discuss frequency of appointments, how to arrange appointment changes or cancellations, and how payment will be made.
Counselling for Infertility and Adoption
The experience of infertility, fertility treatments (including IVF), and adoption processes, is a rollercoaster ride for a couple. It’s a ride that generates many complex issues such as stress, grief, exhaustion, financial difficulties, and sexual tension. Sadly, for some couples there will also be the question of whether to stop pursuing treatment or adoption, and build a different life without children. All the way along the journey of infertility partners can find themselves at odds with each other as they grapple with the enormity of it. I have a thorough understanding of the issues and processes involved with infertility, and provide realistic support for couples who are struggling with it. I can help by facilitating your conversations when decisions are required, providing helpful strategies for managing the stress and exhaustion, and helping you to stay connected to each other during the times when your needs are in conflict.
Counselling for Sexual Abuse

I have extensive experience counselling people who have been sexually abused and am skilled at supporting abuse survivors build on their strengths, to find a future free of pain and fear. Sexual abuse survivors have often had their trust broken many times, so I know it is important we establish what you need, to feel safe enough to talk about the things you find difficult to say to others. Then, together we can look at how your experiences have impacted on you, and work out what tools you need to move forward.
Alcohol and Drug Assessments to Resit your Driver's Licence
If you have been disqualifed from driving for more than 12 months you will need to have an Alcohol and Drug Assessment before you can resit your licence. I am a Registered NZ Transport Authority (NZTA) Alcohol and Drug Assessor and can do this assessment for you.
Clinical Supervision
I also provide professional supervision to counsellors, counselling students, and other health professionals. Supervisees tell me they appreciate the coaching style I use to encourage and support them as they grow in their professional practice.
Qualifications and Experience
I have over 10 years professional experience in the counselling field, including working for Mid-Central Health, in a Residential Rehab centre, and in private practice.

Fees
-
My fee is $80 (incl gst) per one hour session.

Clients who are on a benefit or earn a very low income can get the Disability Allowance from Work and Income to pay for their counselling.

Counselling for sexual abuse may be subsidised by ACC, call me to find out about applying to ACC.
