My role as a professional counsellor and family therapist is to assist individuals, couples and families to make positive changes in their lives by
My professional experience includes working, both short-term and long-term, with individuals, couples and groups including group mediation. It has been a privilege to witness positive changes in client’s lives. The variety of issues I have experience with includes:
Build a More Satisfying Relationship with Couples CounsellingI really enjoy helping couples build more satisfying relationships. The relationship we have with our partner can be the most enjoyable one in our lives, and it is often the most challenging! I have a lot of experience helping people to find more effective ways of dealing with their relationship problems, especially the problems that frustrate us because we just seem to repeat them over and over again. Sometimes this involves the development of new skills, for example one partner may need training in how to assert themselves in a clear way, others may benefit from learning how to listen in a way that their partner actually feels that they have been heard. For other couples the counselling may entail facilitation to negotiate a shared approach to parenting or budgeting. Sometimes the issues contributing to difficulties in a relationship are from old trauma, or drug and alcohol addiction, and these may need to be worked with first before that person is able to deal with the problems in the relationship effectively. And, for many couples, especially those who have been submerged in parenting or work, the first step in relationship counselling can be for each to get in touch again with who they are, what they really want to do with their life at this stage, and what kind of relationship they want to have. When each person has gained some clarity around these issues, couples are often surprised by how readily they find a way to develop a plan for the future that can satisfy them both.Relationship counselling can cover so many areas, and so many changes can come out of it that I encourage you not to feel limited by this brief description of possibilities. Whether your relationship issues seem to revolve around money, sex, parenting, blended families, extended families, housework, values, or lifestyle goals contact me for help to find a new way forward. Learn How to Manage Anger to Achieve Better OutcomesIn my experience people who respond to their angry feelings with abusive or violent behaviour, really do wish they could do something different. They often feel like they go from zero to 100 in an instant. They feel like their life is out of control, as work and relationships turn sour around them.
If your family is scared of you, if you scare yourself, call me to learn how to turn things around. About MeI was born in Belgium and am bi-lingual in English and French. After raising a family and being involved in various aspects of community life, I began training as a counsellor and have been working in this field for 12 years. My life experience and passionate interest in people from diverse cultures and backgrounds has motivated me to help others during difficult and challenging times in their lives.Qualifications
