Counselling with Victim Support Services
Victim Support funds counselling for people affected by homicide.
To get approval for counselling contact Victim Support on their 24 hour phone line 0800 VICTIM (0800 842 846). They will put you in contact with your local Office where you can make an application.
Who is eligible?
You are eligible if you are:
- a family member or close friend of a homicide victim
- a family member or close friend of a manslaughter victim
- a witness to a homicide
- a person first on the scene to a homicide
How much will the counselling cost me?
Victim Support fully funds homicide counselling so your sessions will be free.
How many sessions can I have?
A maximum of 30 counselling sessions will be paid for. Short written reports are made to Victim Support by your counsellor after 5, 15, and 25 sessions indicating the reasons why further sessions are required.
Can I see any counsellor?
This funding is only available for counsellors registered by Victim Support. Your local Office will have a list of who is available in your area.
