Areas of Special Interest

I work with dyadic attachment work, trauma recovery, emotional and behavioural stabalisation, reduction of symptoms of anxiety and depression, building skills in impulse control and coping strategies; targeting child, adolescent and adult clients.

Counselling/Therapy Services

My primary modalities are psychodynamic psychotherapy, which address presenting difficulties and how these have effected thinking, feeling and behaviour. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and EMDR (eye movement desensitisation reprocessing), which provides tools to assist with managing distorted thinking and reactive emotions and how these impact on behaviour. Trauma recovery where there is current or a history of past physical and or sexual trauma. Focus is given to how a traumatic event or events have impacted on past and current relationships and functioning. Expressive therapies including art and sand tray work, which can assist with externalising and processing difficulties in every day functioning. Attachment work in respect of strengthening connections with others.

Child and adolescent work is focused on more short term interventions, that are based on a full assessment, expressive therapies, play therapy for younger children, psycho-education and working with care-givers

Counselling/Therapy Approach

Consultative therapeutic relationship based on psychodynamic principles.
CBT and EMDR to assist with reducing symptoms of anxiety, depression, anger, sexualised acting out.
Expressive therapies using drawing and sand to externalise and problem solve difficulties.
Consulting closely with care-givers and other professionals when working with young children who exhibit a range of childhood difficulties.
