Dr. Allison is committed to providing you with the best counselling experience possible. With a Doctorate in Psychology and more than 20 years counselling experience, she offers a wide range of experience with people from all walks of life.
Allison enjoys the people she works with. She believes that the relationship between herself and the client present with her is of the utmost importance. After the initial session, Allison will check with you that you are comfortable with her - she doesn't assume it!
When we work together over time, it is vital you have trust and confidence that you will be treated with respect and dignity. Allison believes that counsellor and client work together to resolve life issues and to enable the client to set and reach their goals and priorities. There is no 'one size fits all', and your counselling will be very specific to you, taking into account your goals and choices, your past experiences, your personality, the pace of counselling you are comfortable with, the decisions you make along the way, and all the while acknowledging you as a unique person.
Allison presents workshops in:
- Stress Management
- Brain and Memory Health
- Managing Change
Allison works in many ways to bring about the results you desire. While trained in several methods of psychological counselling, I have found over the years that integrating the different approaches to counselling to create a unique way of working with each client works best. Coming from a psychology background I believe there should be a reason for every way I work with a specific client. We are all individuals, and at Auckland Counselling your counselling will be very uniquely yours.
