Adolescents, adults, couples.
Areas of Special Interest
Depression, anxiety, trauma, abuse (historical & recent), relationships, grief, anger, control & eating problems, immigration & cultural difficulties, feeling meaningless in life. Religion & spiritual matters. General mental health struggles.
I provide short term therapy/counselling to alleviate stress on specific issues, along with long term psychotherapy for deep rooted issues.
If you are frustrated and stuck with repetitive patterns of thinking, feeling or behaviour, then working through them on a deeper level brings lasting changes. I will work with you as you gain a greater understanding of why you react and respond to people, situations or events in the way that you do. Together we will work toward growth within yourself, which leads to change in your relationship with others and the world around you. Overall my aim is to assist you to a life with greater enjoyment.
I also work with couples seeking to deal with negative patterns of behaviour in their relationship, communication issues and emotional turmoil in their relationship. Psychotherapy creates a space for couples to explore their needs and demands in the relationship and other underlying issues. I will work with the couple to find their unique way of relating to each other and also growth within themselves individually.
I draw on psychodynamic and psychoanalytic thinking to understand how our past experiences impact present relationships and present moment. I also use cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and interpersonal psychotherapy (IPT) techniques to address and work on patterns that cause distress.
I aim to create an environment which is warm and open, and I will be as open with you as possible. We will work together to attend to your needs and work towards your goals.
