Feedback from clients after a session is generally one of positive relief. I am usually able to quickly grasp what your important issues are and come up with a clear pathway about how to resolve them. You will feel heard, connected to, and will be able to see changes in yourself and your life.
Our work together will enable you to reduce distress and increase your flexibility to cope well in life. You will find yourself making better choices, and able to focus on work and relationships in a positive way.
Sometimes therapy needs to include learning and applying new skills. However, often it is also about removing the barriers to applying knowledge and skills you already have. One of my skills is to foster hope that you can move beyond self-doubt, fear and self-sabotage to build a life that is good again.

I have over 25 years clinical experience and extensive training in psychological methods. I will draw on these to use the ones most suitable for your situation, personality and goals, including:
  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
  • Motivational Interviewing
  • DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy)
While the therapeutic results are often quick, we will only work at a pace that is comfortable for you. For some people dealing with the past will be what circumvents the barriers that are holding you back. Working with the past will only ever be done as needed to achieve your desired change.

Background and Experience

I have enjoyed living in New Zealand since 1987. For the past 26 years I have worked as a Clinical Psychologist working both with adults and children. Most recently my area of expertise has been in the treatment of trauma and in the field of addictions. Before that I have been working in Forensic and Correction settings, Relationship Services, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services and in general Private Practice, providing Employment Assistance Services, Critical Incident Debriefings and Family Court reports
