Areas of Special Interest
Cathy works with people who are experiencing difficulties. She offers support if you are confused or struggling with your life; experiencing anxiety, depression or low mood; stress; grief; or loss in an area of your life, such as work or relationships.
Cathy offers a face to face hour long session on a weekly or fortnightly basis. Why you have chosen to come to see Cathy will guide how long you need to work together.
Cathy offers day and evening hours with rooms close to Takapuna or Birkenhead.
Cathy listens, as you tell her what has brought you to counselling.
Expectations of what our lives should be, can be hard to live with and often lie behind the anxiety and stresses you live with. Together, understanding about these expectations can be reached.
You will work with Cathy on ways to change these; to make lasting change and move on, or to learn new ways of coping with the unchangeable. Together the strengths and abilities you already have will be found. Remembering these, Cathy helps you cope with your present and past difficulties and works with you to shape a realistic future.

Background and Experience
Cathy has wide experience of working with people who live with constant difficulties in their lives, from suicide prevention, women’s advocacy, physical and mental disabilities, deep anxiety and issues of loneliness and isolation. From Cathy’s work as a counsellor here in New Zealand and previously in Australia and the USA she believes that you should not be alone in your distress, and that working together your abilities will be located and developed to gain or regain a place of strength.
