Counselling/Therapy Services

When we first meet I will hear about what is going on for you, what is hard/painful, and how you would like things to be. I love this process because I find that having a place where you can be honest, and get stuff off your chest or out of your head can be really relieving. From here I work with you to find ways of pushing back against the problem and move towards how you would like life to be. This "pushing back against the problem" looks different for everyone but can involve things such as learning useful skills, problem-solving, and personal growth.

Counselling can seem a bit strange or scary for those who are new to it or have had bad experiences with it in the past (I know it was for me). Because of this, I have a variety of ways of working and will try to find methods that fit you well. My goal is to make counselling as useful and doable as possible.

Counselling/Therapy Approach

In terms of counselling models, I work from a Person-Centred basis and often utilise CBT and Narrative Therapy techniques. I have a strengths-based perspective, which means I try to empower you and find and emphasise what resources you have. I will never tell you what to do but will explore things alongside you.
