Frances Darragh

Counsellor & Supervisor

All of us have times when Life throws us challenges that feel too complex or hard to handle or resolve on our own. This is a time for someone outside our lives, without agenda or judgement, trained and experienced at helping to support, understand and transform this 'crisis into an opportunity'.

Counselling/Therapy Services

I believe it is the underlying thoughts feelings impulses that are the most powerful at both tripping us up but also of showing us our growth potential. Hidden in the confusion, upset, conflict -both external and internal - are lots of clues. My role is to help you  to manage these often very difficult feelings or situations and identify the reasons or purpose behind them. This leads to a new and deeper understanding of what we truly need and who we more truly are, rather than the negative, limiting self-perceptions that have been running our lives. Decisions about what to do are much simpler from there.

I work as both a real person- from a large family, within a 30+ year marriage with children, grandchildren and step children- as well as a professional. My trainings include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Psychoanalysis, Jungian Psychology, Emotional Frequency Training, Interactive Drawing Therapy, Process Training- I am always learning! This means I have a wide range of possible ways to look at something and from which to select the best approach depending on a persons readiness, style and current issues.

Background and Experience

In my 20 plus years working in successful Private Practice I have worked with a wide variety of individuals, couples, groups and families over the range of issues life presents.

Supervision Services

Accredited Supervisor (NZAC) of 10 years experience. Providing a meta level overview of dynamics, including transference and countertransference, parallel process, self care and ethical challenges. I believe in a supervision that is solidifying and confidence building with a non judgemental style that is safe and supportive as well as constructively critical. We both seek to understand what happens for best learning and practice.
