Counselling/Therapy Services

We can all face times in our lives where we struggle with stressful situations, difficult relationships, painful emotions, worrying thoughts, and distressing memories. Some of us experience traumatic events that we continue to relive for months or years later. Often our attempts to avoid or control these unpleasant experiences result in us placing limits on how we live life and eventually this can create even more problems. 

Our counselling sessions are likely to start with exploring what it is you want to be different in your life. This can include clarifying the things that are important to you, the type of person you are/want to be, how you want to be treating yourself and others, and what gives purpose and meaning in your life. 

Our work together may also focus on providing practical skills to help you handle these difficulties more effectively so you can keep doing the things that are important to you such as being fully engaged when spending time with loved ones, meeting new people, progressing career goals or pursuing a particular interest or activity.


Counselling/Therapy Approach

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a mindfulness based cognitive behavioural approach that pays particular attention to living in the present moment and being able to do the things in life that are important to you. 

The ACT approach has been proven effective with a variety of problems including depression, anxiety, stress, anger, pain management, addictions, and general mental health. 

The United States Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) has listed ACT as an empirically supported method as part of its National Registry of Evidence-based Programs and Practice.

Background and Experience

Over ten years experience providing individual counselling to adult women and men as well as working with couples. 

This has involved assisting people with a wide range of life challenges such as relationship problems, depression, low self-confidence, anxiety, work related stress, anger issues, partner violence, trauma, sexual abuse and sexual assault, grief and loss, and adjusting to life transitions.


Supervision Services

I offer clinical supervision to counsellors, counselling students and other health care professionals. 

I work with supervisees to review and explore ways forward in their work with clients, to reflect on their own responses and process, and to support effective and ethical practice.
