I work with men and women needing to seek meaning in their life and understand their own responses within relationships, their inner worlds and the world around them. This could be in everyday life, work or during major life transitions.

Counselling/Therapy Services

I offer a respectful and confidential therapeutic relationship within which you will be able to safely explore a broad range of current life concerns.

This might involve wanting to improve a sense of meaning and quality of life, to understand and alleviate distress, to reduce symptoms where possible, and to address ways in which you might feel stuck in repetitive patterns.

To give an idea of the sorts of problems people seek therapy with me for: persistent low self-esteem and self-doubt, feelings of living behind a mask, being adaptive to others, feeling shame or guilt about a situation past or present, feeling numb, living within the shadow of family expectations or past experience, mood imbalances, expressing emotion or communicating in relationships, coping with stress, social anxiety, perfectionism, eating disorders, being a family member or partner to someone with an eating disorder, the effects of neglect, abuse or trauma, repeating, puzzling or nightmarish dreams, unresolved grief, behaviours that seem irrational, and navigating significant life changes.

Please get in touch if you would like to have an initial session, during which we will carefully explore your current concerns and whether I might be able to help.

Counselling/Therapy Approach

My method of working has been primarily relational psychodynamic psychotherapy, which can attend well to difficulties that interfere with relationships with others and self.

I am also enrolled in the ANZSJA Jungian Analyst Training Programme. This is a depth approach which facilitates a healthy interaction between the conscious and unconscious aspects of ourselves. By attending carefully to one’s thoughts, bodily symptoms, relational interactions, dreams, fantasies, and other expressions of the psyche, it is possible to engage more authentically with others and with profound resources within.

Background and Experience

I am experienced in helping people navigate the therapeutic process across a wide range of difficulties, having worked in both public and private clinical settings for the past 16 years.

Supervision Services

I offer supervision for psychodynamically trained psychotherapists, as well as psychologists and psychiatrists who are interested in incorporating this approach. I am also able to supervise mental health clinicians from other disciplines who are interested in thinking about their work psychologically, and who may be working in team settings or individually. Using a psychotherapeutic lens can add an exploration of unconscious factors which may be showing up in the therapeutic relationship and not always be easy to understand. This can build a deeper reflective practice to compliment other clinical backgrounds.
