Jean-Jac du Toit counsellor orewa auckland

There are times in everyone’s life when we face challenges we may need a little help with. Perhaps there are stresses at home. A loved one has passed. Or you are just finding it tough to get out of bed and face the day.

Counselling is about finding the strengths we all have inside ourselves and taking them out into the world to make the change to a happier, more satisfying life.

Some challenges I have helped clients with include:
●  Support for carers
●  Grief and loss
●  Stress
●  Drugs and alcohol
●  Depression
●  Anxiety
●  Suicide
●  Loneliness
●  Communication
●  Domestic abuse
●  Weight loss strategies
●  Advocacy and mediation

I can help you to:

▶  Find your solutions for your life.
▶  Build a ‘toolkit’ of skills, strategies and approaches to help you meet your challenges.
▶  Unravel your situation to gain insights and perspective.
▶  Gain a sense of control and direction in your life.
▶  Develop options that lead to positive changes.

My counselling approach

Counselling involves the formation of a special relationship between the counsellor and you, characterised by openness, collaboration and trust. I will assist you to increase your understanding of yourself and your relationships with others. I respect your right to make your own decisions about your own life. I will work with you to bring about changes to achieve a more satisfying and healthy way of living and experiencing the world. I will listen to you without judgement. You will be heard and what you say will be held in strict confidence.

I am trained in a variety of methods including:
●  Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
●  Person Centred Counselling
●  Gestalt Therapy
●  Solution Focused Therapy

About Jean-Jac

Provisional Member of NZ Association of Counsellors (ProvMNZAC)

Counselling is my passion. I wake every morning with a spring in my step knowing that I am able to help people reach their goals and move towards living the life they want to live.

My first interest was science which I studied at the University of Waikato. I worked for Fonterra for a number of years before one of my loved ones fell ill and I became their full time carer. This experience led to a career change and I began my counselling studies to help others who find themselves in challenging situations.

I spent 3 years as a Life Coach running a Wellness Clinic in conjunction with a doctors practice. Since completing my studies, I have been working as a counsellor in medical practices in Orewa and Silverdale, and also at Dils Funeral Services to further my ability to be with those in truly emotional situations. In these roles I have worked alongside clients from diverse back-grounds and cultures and dealt confidently with a wide range of issues.
