Areas of Special Interest
I have particular interests in relationship work, pre-marital counselling, addiction, and grief work.
I believe that the therapeutic relationship between the client and the therapist is a sacred and privileged space and I am looking forward to helping more clients achieve peace and holistic wellness through an integrative approach.
I believe that behind the unhelpful surface behaviours that range from minor hindrances to major events such as addiction, there is an unmet need that is driving these behaviours and I am passionate about helping my clients to uncover these needs and to learn how to meet them in healthy and fulfilling ways. I believe that our behaviours are a product of environmental learnings that we have collected over the years and I take a gentle approach at addressing the unhelpful schemas and provide a space to grieve the parts of us that are no longer serving a positive purpose. I have a particular interest in couples work an helping relationships to thrive through mutual understanding, communication and a deeper understanding of intimacy. I have also had extensive training in the addiction field and have worked with many clients from all walks of life who are battling with substance abuse issues, living an unfulfilling anti-social lifestyle and struggling with fractured relationships.
First and foremost, my approach to therapy is person centered. I firmly believe that the client is the holder of all the wisdom, knowledge and insight that they need and the therapist acts as a mirror to help the client get a deeper understanding of their world. I take a psycho-dynamic lens to my work, and I am very passionate about giving my clients a space to explore the buried treasures that they may have parked away in their subconscious and bringing them to the surface to allow unhelpful patterns to emerge. I often use Gestalt therapy techniques in my sessions and for more short-term solution focused sessions, I utilize a CBT approach to achieve timely positive changes.

Background and Experience
I have been fortunate enough to have had experiences across many areas of the social sector. I spent the earlier years of my career working within a mental health space, both in an inpatient unit and in the community. From there I moved on to specialize in addiction therapy and spent a few years working in a high security prison within the drug treatment unit which solidified my passion for rehabilitation and reintegration. I am currently employed as a counsellor specialising in problematic sexual behaviour and work across a range of ages and backgrounds to help people achieve the life that they deserve.
