Katy Yiakmis

Psychotherapist

I offer a safe and supportive space for you to focus on change.

Areas of Special Interest

I have a particular affinity for working with people who:

  • are living with trauma
  • might not feel they fit into society’s ideas of how a person should be
  • feel a mismatch between how you experience yourself and how others might experience you
  • experience the very human longing for meaning, in the face of suffering.

My Therapeutic Approach

My goal is to support you in working through those things you feel might be holding you back from finding what you wish for in life.

There are times in life when answers can’t be found by thinking things through alone. Working together, we are able to find new ways of understanding, to step outside of old patterns and limiting beliefs, and look at developing a different way of relating to your story of self.

Background and Experience

I began training in the field of psychodynamic psychotherapy in 2014, and since 2017 have worked in private practice. I have also worked as locum at Higher Ground Trust, an addictions-focused residential therapeutic community, where I facilitated a weekly family therapy group. My passion is psychoanalysis and I am a member of the Centre for Lacanian Analysis. I am ACC registered.

Historically, I have trained in fine art and graphic design, and worked for some years as a designer for print.
