Counselling/Therapy Services

The benefits of counselling are extensive, as you develop greater self-awareness and insight enables you to grow in all areas of your life. Helping you to become the person you want to be. To achieve this, I aim to go beyond merely addressing the immediate symptoms my clients may be experiencing. 

My goal is to assist you in developing effective ways of coping while exploring and addressing the underlying issues that are contributing to current life struggles, emotional distress, or interpersonal problems. Together we look at relationship patterns and other ways of thinking that have become a barrier to happiness and well-being. We will develop tools to assist you in dealing with unwanted, negative thought patterns effectively. I will introduce you to various strategies around stress reduction techniques and mindfulness practices, leading to a more balanced, calm mind. As we explore and address underlying issues, you will gain a stronger sense of self, improved confidence, and regain a sense of well-being. 

You will develop a greater sense of self-acceptance and an enhanced level of self-esteem that enables you to build a stronger relationship connection and help you to thrive both in your personal and professional lives.

 

Counselling/Therapy Approach

It is not about what is ‘wrong’ with you; instead, it's about understanding you and helping you to make sense of your experience. The models I use frequently is Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Solution Focused Therapy (SFT). I also draw on theories and techniques from other therapies such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Narrative Therapy. 

An essential factor in therapy for me is the therapeutic relationship, grounded in trust, allowing you to feel emotionally safe and able to speak openly, knowing that your story will be heard. Using an emphatic, collaborative, and non-judgmental manner, I will support you to develop your self-understanding, improve well-being, and achieve your therapeutic goals.

Background and Experience

I have worked in the health and mental health sectors for over ten years working as a therapist and group facilitator. During this time, I was fortunate enough to support various populations, including persons experiencing Domestic Violence, Sexual Abuse, and Children struggling with emotion regulation.
