Counselling/Therapy Services

I am a registered clinical psychologist with over ten years of experience working within the public sector and more recently in private practice. My Howick based practice offers confidential psychological services for people who are seeking professional help to deal with life concerns they may be struggling with, including mild or more serious mental health issues. I also often see clients funded by EAP and have been providing assistance to members of the Medical Protection Society funded for therapy via MPS. You may be wondering if psychological therapy is right for you, or whether someone you know would benefit from it. As a NZ qualified and registered clinical psychologist, I provide psychological assessment and therapeutic approaches proven in research studies to be effective in addressing a range of problems people experience in everyday life. I also believe it is very important to work collaboratively with clients to ensure that I address their individual needs within a mutually agreed time frame. Choosing to engage in therapy sometimes takes a lot of courage and may feel scary at first but it is my belief that significant and lasting benefits may be gained through either a short or longer-term commitment to therapy.

Counselling/Therapy Approach

In my practice as clinical psychologist, I draw on Cognitive Behavioural (CBT), Cognitive Analytic (CAT), Acceptance and Commitment (ACT), Schema Therapy, and Emotionally Focussed Therapy (EFT) treatment approaches assisting individula clients and couples to achieve positive change. My other area of interest is psychological assessment and treatment of older adults. I offer short-term, medium term, and longer-term therapy based on my clients’ needs.
