There is a visitor car park and street parking available.

Appointments

Appointments are available on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday 9am - 6pm. Weekends and after hours by negotiation.

Fees

Individuals: $100 including GST for a one hour session.
Couples: $150 including GST for a one hour session.
Supervision: $140 including GST for a one hour session.
 

Payment Options

Payment is CASH ONLY. To be paid at the beginning of each session (I currently do not have Eftpos facilities on my premises).

I am an experienced Counsellor with a demonstrated history of working in the mental health wellness area. I am skilled in working with a range of mood problems and relationship management issues.

Counselling/Therapy Approaches

I use counselling methods and techniques depending on your needs:
  • Narrative Therapy – reconnecting with your skills and competencies by looking at problems in very different ways in order to develop a new future.
  • Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) - learning how to think differently can change how we feel or act, even if the situation does not change.
  • Mindfulness, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy - ideal for people who are overwhelmed by emotions and distress.
  • Transactional Analysis - explains how people sometimes continue to re-play childhood strategies with unhelpful results.
  • Interactive Drawing Therapy - exploring and understanding behaviours through drawing
  • Working with figurines as symbols

Qualifications

  • Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling (UNITEC)
  • Bachelor of Social Practice (UNITEC)
  • Diploma in Social and Community Work (UNITEC)
  • Certificate in Dual Diagnosis (Drugs/alcohol and mental health issues) - (CADS - Community Alcohol and Drug Services)
  • Certificate in Telephone Counselling (LIFELINE)
  • Certificate in Supervision (University of Auckland + NZ Association of Counsellors)
 

Background and Experience

Alongside my private practice I work part time in the mental health sector with families/whanau/carers of people suffering from mental health problems and dependence (on drugs, alcohol, gambling). I have experience working with clients from diverse backgrounds, cultures, ages and sexual orientations. In the past, I worked as a Telephone Counsellor with Lifeline; and as a School Guidance Counsellor in a multicultural secondary school.

I have extensive life experience and have managed life transitions and new challenges successfully.

As a registered member of the NZ Association of Counsellors (MNZAC), I abide by its Code of Ethics. I have regular professional supervision and participate in personal and professional development activities.

 

Supervision Services

I provide supervision for people in the caring profession to benefit from regular support and prevent burnout. I believe that a supervision relationship is based on collaboration. I encourage my supervisees to share any aspect of their practice that needs to be addressed, knowing that they are not judged but rather encouraged to refine their practice.
