Counselling/Therapy Services

When I see couples or individuals, I help my clients to explore and identify the relevance of previous experience and look at the impact that might be having on the current problems you are experiencing today.

Individual psychotherapy can be short or long term - longer work tends to have more meaning and impact on overall well being and the ongoing relationship with the therapist can provide an excellent container so that difficult areas of fear and shame can be explored and resolved in a safe, caring and non-judgemental way.

I offer guidance and coaching on ways of communicating with partners and children with more clarity and warmth. Often, we treat those closest to us, those we care about most, with the least respect and kindness. Everyday communication with those most important to us, is one of the most vital issues I can help you to address and improve.

I have a particular interest in offering mentoring and supervision to members of the medical profession, who experience work demands that can be intensely traumatic on a day to day basis. I can help you to debrief and address the effects this work can have on your home life and relationships.

Counselling/Therapy Approach

My approach is intersubjective. In other words, during conversations between us, I look at all the relationships you have had in your life and help you to make sense of patterns that have always been there. In the safety of an active dialogue, I help you to trace the ways in which your own personality has developed and this can guide you to pinpoint the difficulties that are holding you back and causing you problems.

Background and Experience

I also wrote a book on relationships and relationship breakdown, "Acts of Trust", published by Exisle publishing in 2005.
