Individual Therapy

The difficulties that I see clients struggling with are most often associated with trauma, stress and pain (emotional or physical). Taking care of yourself and seeking help is a sign of strength, although it can be daunting to undertake therapy. Clinical psychology is ‘evidence-based’, which means I am trained in therapies that have been scientifically evaluated as effective. However, the most important factor for therapy to be successful is the relationship between the client and psychologist. If I am not the right person for you to connect with, I am happy to recommend another therapist who might be.

Therapy Approach

In treatment, I use the following models: cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), eye-movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR) and compassion-focused approaches.

Background and Experience

I completed my clinical and academic training in 2000 and have been practicing in the Wellington region since. I have worked with clients in a variety of settings, including private practice, community mental health services, hospitals, residential care, and prisons. I have also worked in psychology advisory roles.

In addition to my private practice in Thorndon, I currently run clinics at Boulcott Hospital for bariatric patients.

Supervision Services

I provide professional supervision to clinical psychologists and other mental health professionals.
