Children, adolescents, families.
Areas of Special Interest
The impact of life circumstances (e.g. trauma, loss, divorce, etc.); emotional challenges (e.g. anxiety, depression, anger, etc.); social and interpersonal challenges; parenting support; behaviour challenges
As parents / primary caregivers, we strive to do the best we know how for our children, and want what is best for them. However, life has many challenges, and sometimes these challenges can feel quite overwhelming, and result in feeling quite stuck at what to do when we feel we've tried many different options and strategies, and still see little or no change.
If you are concerned that your child's behaviour(s) are impacting negatively on his/her healthy day-to-day functioning, an initial conversation in a safe, empathic and non-judgemental space might be helpful in voicing your concerns. Together, we can identify specific needs, create goals and explore strategies and approaches in overcoming the challenges experienced toward achieving goals. Working with you and/or your child entails identifying and accentuating strengths, improving weaknesses and focusing on self-awareness, self-acceptance and self-growth.
I use various therapeutic approaches, depending on you and/or your child's unique needs, challenges, goals and expectations.
Some of these approaches include:
- Person-Centered Therapy
- Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy
- Constructivist Therapies, including Solution-Focused Therapy and Narrative Therapy
- Play Therapy
