Areas of Special Interest
Trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, relationship issues, phobias, stress management, life changes and personal development. I also offer supervision and professional development services.
All of us experience challenges in life. Sometimes we can work through these ourselves or with the help of family and friends. At other times, it is more difficult. We might feel paralysed by fear or anxiety, overwhelmed by grief and sadness, or experience a sense of hopelessness or despair about life that sees us stuck repeating the same unhelpful patterns.
As an experienced, qualified, therapist, I will help you to make sense of what is happening, support you to process distressing emotions and experiences, identify old patterns that are no longer serving you well, and learn new ways of relating to yourself and others. I offer a practical, pragmatic approach as well as information and resources to support you to move forward in your life.
I am also a trained EMDR therapist. EMDR helps people heal from trauma or other distressing life experiences and is also used for anxiety, depression, panic attacks, phobias and other issues. For many clients, EMDR can be completed in fewer sessions and can achieve more enduring results than standard talk therapy approaches.
I offer a safe, welcoming and confidential space for us to work together through whatever you bring to the therapy room. My commitment is to support you with warmth, acceptance and respect.
I use proven therapeutic approaches and ensure continual refreshing and updating of knowledge and expertise through regular professional development including training in neuroscience and advanced training in EMDR.

Background and Experience
In addition to a busy private practice, I am also a Board Member of the New Zealand Association of EMDR (EMDRNZ). I have completed training in Neuroscience and Advanced Training in EMDR.
I have worked in the UK, Australia and New Zealand, including work in the fields of Public Relations, Management Consulting, Research and Education. I regularly bring experiences and tools gained throughout my career into my therapy work.
I have been a foster mum and provided therapy services for children and young people.
Originally from the UK, I have lived in the Wellington region for over twenty years and enjoy lots of walks with my beautiful labradors, Pepper and Teddy.
Supervision is a key part of therapeutic practice. It is here that we can explore our own responses to and understanding of our work with clients. Supervision can enable us to make sense of, challenge, bring clarity to, and extend ourselves in the work that we do.
I provide clinical supervision and professional development to counsellors and other health professionals.
I bring to supervision my clinical learning, experience and curiosity as well as previous career experience as a mentor, educator and manager.
