Counselling/Therapy Services

Welcome. Whether you're just having a browse, have been pointed in my direction or you are searching for who is out there that can help, it's great to have you pop by.

I am a qualified, experienced counsellor offering private and confidential counselling to individuals and groups in the beautiful Hibiscus Coast area. For the right fit a drive isn't a barrier for many clients with many choosing to travel from the North Shore and Auckland City suburbs.

I am passionate about providing counselling in a safe, confidential and non-judgmental space. I aim to provide a comfortable place where what is troubling you can be heard, understood and explored.

There are countless reasons why people seek counselling. These can range from a general feeling of things not being right to an inability to cope with distressing symptoms of anxiety or depression. People seeking help may be unsure of what it is that is troubling them or feel overwhelmed by a specific issue such as a sudden loss or traumatic experience.

Counselling aims to help you have a greater understanding of why you feel, think and behave in the way you do and so allow you to have greater choices in how you live your life.

Counselling/Therapy Approach

My approach is eclectic. For me this means I have a large toolkit of strategies and approaches that I can utilise to best meet your needs and expectations rather than you fitting into my 'modality'.

I would strongly position myself as Person Centred, utilising strong threads of CBT, Solution Focussed, Transactional Analysis. I support these approaches with sand tray, art therapy and symbol work when its appropriate. It is my hope and belief that my clients find this versatility powerful in supporting positive change.

Background and Experience

Finding the right counsellor for you is paramount and I am just as committed to ensuring you have the right person for you, and if thats not me I'll signpost to someone who maybe.

What I can tell you is a bit about me. I am married with one very energetic toddler and sport and the outdoors is a massive part of my life.

I am a secondary trained PE teacher of quite a few years having worked in both the UK and NZ. I am currently Head of Counselling (Guidance) at a large local secondary school. I have contracted for an NGO facilitating targeted parenting programmes (Positive Parenting Programme). I have been counselling full time for over 6 years with adults and adolescents and continue to find it incredibly rewarding.

Supervision Services

I am open to providing supervision in particular for school counsellors. As Head of Counselling at a school myself I am very aware of the uniqueness of working with such a client group and environment.

This is also an area I have committed to further in terms of professional development.
