Side by Side Counselling
Courage doesn’t always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day, saying, “I will try again tomorrow.”

Counselling/Therapy Services

Are you tackling a problem and would like some support?
Are you feeling overwhelmed or stressed?
Is it hard for you to get through everyday life?
Are you ready for some change?

I am here to help bring back the calm and confidence into your day to day life!

When problems come into our lives, they tend to eat away a lot of our strength and sometimes even start to define us or our relationships with others. This often leads us into drawing generalising conclusions like: "I'm an anxious person" - "My partner never listens" - "My child is rebellious" - "We always fight" - "I have no choice" ... which may result in low energy, a feeling of hopelessness and frustration. Sound familiar?

I can help you take up a different perspective, gradually separate yourself from the problem's influence and generate new ways of coping with whatever is affecting you, your relationships and family life.

I will offer you a calm, confidential, non-judgemental setting to talk about your thoughts and feelings. In our work together, we will uncover your resources to build new hope and strength.

Counselling/Therapy Approach

My approach to counselling is based on Narrative Therapy and Collaborative Practice. However, I also utilise ideas from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing and Mindfulness in my practice.

Background and Experience

Through working in different roles in the helping professions over the past 20 years I have extensive experience in working with children, adolescents, and adults from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds in groups and individually. This includes working with people who are affected by Autism and Down Syndrome.

In 2014, I obtained my NZ counselling qualification Since then I have counselled in private practice and for community organisations, e.g. CAB. I am also involved with a Crisis response service.

Originally I am from Germany. After living in the US for 6 years I moved to NZ in 2012 together with my husband and our four children. In my free time, I enjoy swimming, tramping and reading
