I work with a very wide range of people with many different stories. Each person who comes to see me is treated as a special unique individual and I focus on what their goals and needs are at this time of their life. I am passionate about taking a holistic approach looking at all aspects of the clients life and the connection between the mental and physical. I want the counselling experience to be a positive and empowering one for each client. Sometimes clients become so immersed in their problem that I can offer clarity and alternative ways of thinking.
I enjoy working with couples who may be experiencing relationship difficulties and feeling stuck. I have a very vast experience with both heterosexual and homosexual couples. I understand that some couples may be ready to separate and have experience in helping with the adjustments necessary, and helping with parenting plans.
I am a trained sex therapist and can help couples overcome sexual difficulties.
As a parent of three adult children I have a lot of understanding of parenting worries and family life.
I work with a number of therapeutic modalities including Narrative, Cognitive Behavioural (CBT), Solution- Focussed and Mindfullness. I have also done advanced training in Sex Therapy.

Background and Experience
I have worked for 30 years in a variety of settings. My work experience includes counselling and social work. I have been employed in both private practice and in public agencies. My work experience includes a community mental health centre, hospitals, CYFS and Auckland Prison. I lived and worked in the USA for 6 years, working in the county Rape Crisis Centre, a Group Psychology Practice, and Lifeline (Director of volunteers).
In the past 16 years I have had a private practice in Whangaparaoa with a vast range of clients. I have also worked as a Family Court Counsellor, and ACC Registered Counsellor, worked as a social worker for an intercountry adoption agency, and been a mediator for Family Dispute Resolution.
I have provided supervision to a number of professionals including counsellors, social workers, volunteers, and groups. I have supervised people working in the public and private sectors. I believe that the supervision process should be encouraging and empowering and a collaborative process. I aim to assist supervisees to maximise their professional development. I have also enjoyed supervising both counselling and social work students.
