At your first session we will also discuss session times, frequency, fees, cancellations, and anything else that may concern you.

josie young counsellor warkworthI have been a counsellor for 20 years. I am passionate about my work and enjoy supporting clients to reflect on their lives and their reactions to life events. I believe that, with support and information, a client can resolve past issues and make the changes needed to live their life to it's full potential. I am experienced in working with clients who are dealing with a range of issues such as: family violence (physical, sexual, psychological or emotional abuse), anger, eating disorders, sexual abuse, grief and loss, anxiety, panic attacks, low self-esteem, mid-life crisis, and decision making.

As the mother of 5 children I have many good ideas and strategies about positive parenting, the teenage years and conflict management. I work with lesbians and lesbian couples on the same issues as mentioned above and in addition with the difficulties and stress that may arise from 'coming out' to parents, families and employers.

I supervise employees working in the helping professions.

margaret lewis counsellor orewa
I enjoy working with adults, adolescents and children using a gentle and supportive approach. By generating self-awareness a person can understand develop and maintain healthy relationships with others. I have extensive experience working with victims of family violence and am skilled in helping clients to recover from physical, emotional and sexual abuse.
I am a trained child play therapist and can help children with such issues as: sexual abuse and trauma; self esteem; not coping at school; anxiety when parents separate; grief when a parent or person close to them dies or moves away; bullying; emotional expression; overcoming shyness, and more.
Play therapy is a specialized counselling method for helping children. Play is a natural world for children, it creates a safe atmosphere where they will open up more than ususal. Using play techniques in therapy enables children to express what is happening both inside and in their external world, they can try new things, learn more about how the world works, learn about socially appropriate behaviour, work through their problems and work out solutions and more effective ways of coping. The result is they feel more capable and confident, and parent find their children become calmer, have fewer meltdowns, are more reasonable to deal with, sleep better, and most importantly more able to talk to them. Talk to me about how I can help your child.

Margaret is registered to provide counselling funded by: Health West, APSVictim Support,  WINZ, and CYFS.

Sue Nicholls – Counsellor & Family Therapist

Bachelor Counselling,  MNZAC
Available in Orewa and Warkworth

sue nicholls counsellor orewa and warkworthI believe counselling has the potential to make us more aware of who we are. I feel privileged to be involved in this therapeutic relationship of developing more self awareness with individuals, couples, and adolescents. I listen & support clients to identify their strengths and passions, change their unwanted behaviours, and experience their life from a more consciously aware place.

I am particularly passionate about working with the challenges that relationships bring, and have 20 year’s + experience working with couples on a broad range of issues. For those couples who want to make their existing relationship more connected and communicate more effectively, I support them to get beyond the old triggers that sabotage their relationship. As a Registered Family Court counsellor I am skilled at supporting people through either a relationship breakdown or separation to develop respectful ways of communicating with each other, either in regards to a healthier co- parenting relationship or to help them make mutually agreeable decisions about their children.

My other passion is working with adolescents and am available to counsel them for problems such as anxiety and depression, not coping with life, bullying, self-esteem, truancy and gender issues.
