Abuse Prevention Services – Helensville

Abuse Prevention Services assists families in the wider Rodney/Hibiscus Coast areas who are affected by family violence or abuse to heal from trauma and make positive changes to their lives through education and support.

For Women

Many women experience abuse in their relationships with their husband, partner or family member. This abuse can be physical, emotional, verbal, sexual or financial. Our Safety Services Programme is designed specifically for women experiencing abuse.

Our women facilitators are trained and authorised. They are experienced in working with issues that affect women’s lives. Find out more about the women’s programme

For Men

Are you looking for positive ways to improve your relationships? Do you take your anger out on others? ​Do you sometimes behave in ways you later regret? ​Is your family frightened of you at home?

​If you have answered ‘yes’ to any of these questions, this programme is for you. Find out more about the men’s programme.

For Children & Young People

Children and youth are often the unseen victims of family abuse. they may suffer trauma and show signs of stress. Our facilitators are fully trained and are experienced in working with children and young people. They have a wide range of skills relating to family violence/abuse, child protection, adolescent issues and childhood trauma. Find out more about the children’s & young people’s programmes.

Counselling

A safe, confidential and professional counselling service available to:

• women who have experienced any form of abuse in a relationship.
• ​men who have experienced any form of abuse or would like to learn how to over come their abusive behaviours.
• youth who are exhibiting issues around their own anger and children and youth who have witnessed abuse.

All our Counselling staff are current members of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors.
