Announcement

Personal growth through understanding and acceptance.

Acceptance doesn’t mean resignation; it means understanding that something is what it is and that there’s got to be a way through it.

Counselling Services

I am an experienced counsellor specialising in addictive behaviours, diverse sexualities, genders, and relationships.

I provide a non-judgemental safe environment where you will have the time and space to talk and reflect on your concerns. We will then work together to find the way forward.

My hope is that through a greater understanding and acceptance of yourself and the current situation you will be able to make the decisions and changes needed to live more fully; learn and practice the strategies and tools needed to face life’s inevitable difficulties, and have the peace of mind to enjoy the journey.

I offer brief solution-focused interventions or longer-term holistic counselling as needed. ‘No man is an island’ and it is often beneficial to involve the people that care for you in treatment.

Accipere Wellness Services Ltd. is not a crisis service. Please call 111 or Te Haika 0800 745 477 if you are concerned about your own or another’s safety.

Counselling Approach

The person-centred counselling approach is the foundation of the way I work. This approach involves listening, thinking together, coaching, sharing ideas and seeking feedback. You are at the centre of this process.

In addition, I integrate the following approaches as appropriate:

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
  • Dialectical Behaviour Therapy
  • Mindfulness
  • Motivational Interviewing
  • Solution Focused Therapy

Values that underpin my practice:

  • Māia- Accepting myself as I am
  • Pono- Being honest and authentic
  • Maramatanga- Understanding
  • Whanaungatanga- Belonging and connectedness
  • Ako- learning from one another
