Overall Winner of the 2014 ‘I am Auckland Award’ for excellence and innovation for my work with youth, individuals and whanau within the community.
Counselling is a way to understand and manage your emotions, thoughts and behaviours. I can support you in this journey by offering a supportive and non-judgemental environment, where I will work alongside you to help you navigate any challenges you are facing in life. I will provide you with the self-confidence to find solutions and develop the tools to make changes.
I have been working with children and young adults for nearly ten years in educational, youth justice, and sports settings, and in this time, I have developed the specialist skills to help with their unique concerns.
Using person-centred therapy, I work with a range of modalities allowing you to identify your own skills and voice, and become the expert of your own life. These modalities include Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Based Therapy (SFBT) and Functional and Acceptance Commitment Therapy (FACT).
I was drawn to counselling and social work as I am passionate about social justice and narrowing the gap of inequality in society. Through my personal life experience, I have developed a high level of resiliency, which has led me to want to help others discover their own coping strategies and build their resilience.
This passion for helping others has led me to work in a variety of settings, including working with youth offenders as a Youth Justice Manager, helping professional rugby players as a Personal Development Manager and counselling children and adolescents in several educational settings. Most recently, I have been employed as the Head of Guidance counselling, overseeing and transforming the counselling department at a private school on the North Shore.
Adaptable and friendly in my approach, I am dedicated to community engagement and building contacts so my clients are provided with the wrap around support they require.
