Counselling Services

All of us experience challenges in life. Sometimes we can work through these ourselves or with the help of family and friends. At other times, it is more difficult. We might feel paralysed by fear or anxiety, overwhelmed by grief and sadness, or experience a sense of hopelessness or despair about life that sees us stuck repeating the same unhelpful patterns.

As an experienced, qualified, counsellor and EMDR therapist, I will help you to make sense of what is happening, support you to process distressing emotions and experiences, identify old patterns of behaviour that are no longer serving you well, and learn new ways of relating to yourself and others. I offer a practical, pragmatic approach as well as information and resources to support you to move forward in your life.

I am also a trained EMDR therapist. EMDR helps people heal from trauma or other distressing life experiences and is also used for anxiety, depression, panic attacks, phobias and other issues. For many clients, EMDR can be completed in fewer sessions and can achieve more enduring results than standard talk therapy approaches.

Courage doesn’t happen when you have all the answers. It happens when you are ready to face the questions you have been avoiding your whole life.

About Me

My therapeutic experience includes several years in private practice. Prior to this, I have worked as a counsellor for Skylight working with adults and children, as a high school counsellor, and as a facilitator and co-facilitator of a range of therapeutic workshops and groups, including Heartsong (a support group for bereaved parents), and ‘Parenting through Separation’ courses.

Prior to my counselling career, I have a background in organisational development and knowledge management working as a manager, consultant, and tertiary education lecturer working with organisations in the public and private sectors.
Currently enjoying my fabulous 50’s, I have experienced life living in several different countries and different cultures. All of these experiences help me to bring openness, compassion, respect and caring to my counselling practice.
