About Jayne

Jayne has been in practice since 1995 and brings a range of expertise and knowledge to her work. She is passionate and committed to supporting people create well-being and change in their life. She worked for a District Health Board in the Community Mental Health Team for 5 years. Throughout most of her counselling career she has built expertise in the family violence area, completing assessment process, individual programmes, group work and the supervision of those working in the family violence field. She worked as a counsellor for several non-government specialising in family therapy and relationship counselling. She held a clinical lead and management role with Relationship Aotearoa, a large New Zealand wide counselling agency for 9 years in the lower North Island region. Her background includes hospice work providing therapeutic support for family members and those facing the end of their life. The provision of supervision has been provided by Jayne through most of the last 20 years to those working in a wide range of health, justice, management, legal and counselling sectors. Jayne has been in private practice for the past 8 years, focusing on the provision of supervision, and supporting people through transformational change through counselling. She also provides well-being support to staff in their workplace, including short-term problem solving and general counselling through the provision of Employment Assistance Programme (EAP).

All services are provided online using Zoom Pro, and therefore will fit easily into your work schedule or lifestyle. All you will need is a confidential and comfortable physical space and internet coverage/connection. You can be assured of a stable, secure and safe environment to receive your service. Online sessions are proven to be highly effective, with excellent outcomes for all services provided. Kowhai Practice has extensive experience providing online services.

Counselling Approach

Creating new meaning from life experience is extremely liberating, allowing space for new beginnings and possibilities to arise. Jayne provides an environment that is calm, safe and welcoming. Jayne works from a pluralistic base which brings a diverse approach to therapy to best meet the needs of the client. Her approaches include therapies such as, neurotherapy, positive psychology, mindfulness techniques, cognitive behavioural therapy, psycho-education, narrative approaches, and Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy.

Jayne has undertaken ongoing training and research in the neuroscience area, With new developments in the field of neuroscience research, counselling offers ways to rewire the brain, opens new possibilities that change life direction and the ability for the mind, body and soul integration to holistically heal.

Relationship Counselling

This is an opportunity for you to refocus on your relationship.

You’ll be able to deepen the connection between you both, gaining insight and understanding of each other. Jayne will work with you to identify and negotiate difficulties, attend to each other, and learn new ways to respond to life and each other.

Counselling can enable healing at a time when the emotional connection between you both feels lost, which can occur after a significant life changing event, following an affair, or when grief has impacted your relationship, such as the loss of someone close.

Parenting is a challenging time for couples, often impacting on the relationship between you both. This is an opportunity to bring attention back to the relationship while supporting the parenting of your children.

Coaching

Coaching is a unique relationship with the focus on you, your identified goals and objectives. You will experience attention and commitment that you are unlikely to experience elsewhere. We are working together to find clarity and a pathway forward. You may be looking to change behaviour, transition life through challenging situations. It provides you with positive support, feedback and guidance to improve your personal effectiveness in your life, workplace or business.

Supervision

Regular supervision or a one-off consultancy session provides a safe space to gain a deep reflection and overview of your work. It is an opportunity to reflect on your professional practice. This is managed in a spirit of inquiry, nourishing the love of learning and openness to look beyond what is in the room.

Supervision allows us to engage in ethical conversations, and to challenge world views, allowing the possibilities of new ways to move forward. It is a place to celebrate the work you do, to consider personal wellbeing in the workplace and outside the workplace. This ensures you are nourishing yourself and stay open in your professional practice.

Jayne provides professional clinical supervision to counsellors, social workers, those working in education, health, management, and workplace supervision. She is a highly experienced clinician and supervisor. Her clinical and supervision experience has developed through work in the health system, NGO sector, 9 years of management, and extensive private practice as a clinician, coach, and supervisor.
