Your Story Counselling and Family Therapy
Life can be challenging at the best of times, and these challenges can also be doorways into new experiences of ourselves and our lives.
I will help you to create inspiring new narratives and possibilities for what is important to you in life and disappear the problems that brought you to therapy. My approach is optimistic, creative, lighthearted, and solution-focused! I have been helping people transform their lives since 1994.
We will discover and draw upon your strengths, wisdom, values, and commitments and bring them to bear on whatever difficulties you are facing. Problems are often caused or made worse by bigger, societal issues and we take this into account in our conversations. We will work together so that you experience yourself in new, and uplifting ways.
I work mainly as a narrative therapist and incorporate Solution Focused Brief Therapy, The Journey Process, and other approaches in which I am trained, as needed.
I have thirty years experience working with adults, children, young people, and families. And have worked with just about every problem imaginable from anxiety, depression, family troubles, relationship issues, addictions, eating disorders, childhood problems, identity issues, grief and loss, etc. I have decades of experience with children, young people, adults and families.
Since 2003 I have been trained one-on-one and supervised by David Epston, one of the world’s leading therapists, and the co-inventor of Narrative Therapy. I have published widely about my work, and present regularly at international conferences. I taught counselling at postgraduate level in New Zealand for ten years.
I am a full member of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors (NZAC) I am also a trained family therapist, child therapist, and Journey Practitioner. Please have a look at my website where you will find videos and testimonials and feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.
I look forward to meeting you and to our conversations.
