Overall mental health and wellness support for young people and adults, including general and addiction counselling.
My style of counselling is holistic and collaborative, and I will tailor my approach, therapeutic intervention, frequency and number of sessions to suit depending on what your needs are. Part of my role is to help empower you to implement and maintain any changes you want to make.
I work in a client centred way which means getting to know a bit about you and what you would like support with, identifying specific goals you may have, before then helping support you to achieve this.
It is important to me to ensure that you are receiving the right support. If at any stage I feel that you may require additional or alternative support to help you achieve your goals, I will talk this through with you and can help facilitate onwards referrals if needed.
It is also important that you feel that you are heard and supported in a way that works for you. I encourage feedback so that together we can help ensure that you are getting your counselling and support needs met.
Client centred, holistic and trauma informed practice.
Whānau inclusive wherever possible and as appropriate.
I have been working with people who have substance abuse issues, addiction problems and overall mental health and lifestyle concerns, for the past 9 years. I have experience working with adults, young people and their whānau.
My previous experience also includes working as a Team Leader and Clinical Manager for a community based addiction treatment provider, as the Clinical Lead Coordinator for a child and youth mental health and addiction service and as a Team Leader for a primary mental health and addiction service for adults and children aged 12+.
I have also had the privilege of working as part of a pilot programme for young people aged 18-25 who are experiencing distress, mental health and/or addiction concerns.
