Counselling Remuera

I am committed to providing empathic, non-judgmental and effective counselling to assist individuals, adolescents and couples to lead more fulfilling and meaningful lives.

Areas of Special Interest

I specialise in helping people suffering from anxiety and depression and those wanting support as they undergo life transitions.

Counselling Services

Whether you are new to counselling or looking for a new counsellor, you may like to know a bit more about how I approach counselling and what that means for you.

First and foremost I provide a safe, confidential and non-judgemental client counsellor relationship where you are able to explore, process or heal those areas of your life that are not yet as you would like them to be.

The empathic and reflective listening skills I use help me understand your lived experience and help you engage in our counselling sessions. Understanding your unique challenges and goals will enable us to build a collaborative relationship whether you attend counselling on your own or with your partner.

So we can check you are benefiting from our time together we can discuss what you are finding most useful, what you might like to change and the progress you feel you are making. I use two simple and accurate measurement scales to follow how things are progressing for you and to see if things are getting better as you’d hoped. The scales also help me check on how I am doing for you, they help you communicate to me how I can be more effective.

Counselling Approach

The counselling framework I predominantly use is ARC or Attend, Reflect and Collaborate. I am able to adapt this framework to work alongside solution focused brief therapy, a narrative approach, emotionally focused therapy or Gestalt techniques, dependant on what is best suited to you and your needs.

We can discuss the ways you feel most comfortable sharing, and I am confident we can find an approach that will build on your unique strengths.
