Areas of Special Interest

I have more than 20 years of experience working with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, self-esteem, family discord, grief and loss, self-defeating patterns, and the process of coming to terms with difficult and traumatic life situations.

Counselling/Therapy Services

Sometimes life is hard. It gets tough for all of us. In my opinion, knowing when to reach out for support is a sign of great strength and hope. Let’s figure it out together.

With compassion and acceptance, I offer you a safe place to talk about issues and obstacles that are troubling you. We will work as a trusted team to process feelings of sadness or fear. We will get curious about any anxieties or stresses you might be experiencing. Together we will create a path towards growth, personal insight and healing.

Therapy is a transforming experience. I would be honoured to join you on this journey. I am here to help.

Counselling/Therapy Approach

I am trained in psychodynamic and Jungian theories, but am not bound by any particular approach. Your psychotherapy will be unique–to you, your needs and who we are and will become, as we work together.

I work relationally, based on the principle that having authentic and meaningful relationships is crucial for emotional mental health. I share your journey, using the client-therapist relationship to better understand your way of dealing with life.

I offer both long and short-term psychotherapy depending on your needs and wishes. You may want just a small number of sessions to think about what’s troubling you or perhaps you are considering longer term therapy to better understand your issues and make some choices and lasting changes.

Background and Experience

I have worked in private practise for over 20 years and bring a very personal understanding to the struggles of identity, parenting, and the marital relationship.

I grew up in in Denmark where I also finished my first degree. In my late 20’s I moved to New Zealand where I studied psychotherapy and later met my husband. Together we have three children, two biological and one adopted from overseas. Our family has since been joined by two dogs (golden retriever and shih-tzu/poodle cross), who are currently in training as therapy dogs. Both are very calm and affectionate and are experts at helping people relax and feel calm. If needed they’d love to be part of the session.
