The Summer Psychodrama ‘22 residential event at the Tauhara Retreat Centre, in Taupo’s Acacia Bay, invites you to take hold of the new possibilities that come with a new year, to bring new movement to places of stuckness, and set new goals, find new solutions.

No previous psychodrama experience is necessary



Q Programme

3-6 February 2022

Participants can arrive at Tauhara from 4.30pm on Thursday afternoon to settle in and meet one another. Dinner is served at 6:00pm and the first group session runs from 7:00 to 9:00pm. On Friday and Saturday, group sessions are held from 9:00am to 12:30pm, 2:30pm to 6:00pm, and 7:00pm to 9:00pm; and on Sunday from 9:00am to 12:30pm and 1:30pm to 4:00pm, with morning tea, lunch, recreation, and afternoon tea breaks each day. On Sunday evening there is an optional pay-as-you-go dinner at a restaurant in Taupo.

Q Venue

The Tauhara Retreat Centre is located in Acacia Bay, a 12-minute drive the Taupo Town Centre. The 5-hectare site overlooks Lake Taupo and offers a rejuvenating environment with bush walks, water features, and a quiet sanctuary area. The main group room is sunny, carpeted, and has direct access to the outdoors. You are encouraged to bring comfortable indoor clothes & footwear, outdoor apparel for exploring the local surroundings, and togs for the thermal pools in Taupo [Also see].

Q Accommodation

Standard accommodation is provided on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights in 2-person carpeted bedrooms with separate shared bathroom facilities for women and men. Solo use of a standard bedroom or of a caravan is also available for a surcharge, as are two self-contained accommodation options (see registration form for details). If you want to stay in your selected accommodation option on the nights before and/or after Summer Psychodrama ‘22 (on Wednesday 2nd February and/or Sunday 6th February) the charge is $50 per person per night.

Pillows and blankets are supplied, and you have the option of bringing your own sheets, duvets and towels, or hiring them from Tauhara (see the online registration form for details).

Q Catering

All catering, from dinner on Thursday through to lunch on Sunday, is prepared onsite by the Centre’s kitchen team. The food menu offers delicious home-cooked vegetarian or meat buffet-style meals. Preference for meat, vegetarian, gluten-free, vegan or diary-free foods can be noted on the online registration form (some extra charges apply).

Q About Craig

Craig Whisker is a certified psychodramatist and educator (AANZPA) with a particular focus on family and group psychotherapy. He first experienced psychodrama in 1988 and completed training from 2000-2007. He has been conducting psychodrama workshops in New Zealand and in South East Asia since 2005, including at Tauhara each year since 2013.

Q Cost

Summer Psychodrama ’22 costs between $885 and $1100 (income-related sliding scale) and is inclusive of venue facilities, fourteen 11⁄2 to 2-hour group sessions, home-cooked meals and 3 night’s accommodation.

- $885.00 for annual incomes less than $25,000 (fee level A)
- $995.00 for annual incomes between $25,000 & $70,000 (fee level B)
- $1100.00 for annual incomes over $70,000 (fee level C)
