Kia ora, My name is Sunanda John and as a counsellor, I offer women short and long term counselling. My area of work includes, grief and loss, adoption, self-esteem and living in a different culture.
In my counselling practice, I help my clients to discover their thoughts and feelings. I support my clients to put their thoughts and feelings in a perspective, that helps them make positive decisions for their life.
I work with my clients providing them safe space, so that they can talk about their feelings. It is a safe space to be able to establish their goals and work towards achieving those goals. It is important that my clients feel safe and are able to form a therapeutic connection with me. I work with my clients at their pace.
Sometimes in our life, we can come to a place of unfamiliar emotions and thoughts, that has impact on our relationships.
In my work I help my clients to familiarise themselves with their new thought and feeling. I help them to use tools to regulate their thoughts and emotions and feel confident within self and in relation to others.
I mainly work with women, to help them regain their self-esteem and enable them to be able to see their strengths.
My approach is integrative, and my work includes the use of Transactional Analysis, System’s theory, Imago Principles, and Person-Centered Counselling.
I have been a practicing counsellor for eight years. I have worked as a volunteer and as a paid counsellor with community based counselling agencies working cross-culturally with women, children and families.
