I have worked in social services for over 20yrs. I have been involved with complex mental health, addictions, co-existing problems, high risk family harm and management of community agencies and teams. I am well skilled with difficulties that require a well-balanced approach. I have worked with many ethnicities, ages & stages, victims and perpetrators of violence.
I am non-judgmental, because I sincerely believe people want to have a better happy life. It just sometimes, we don’t know how to.
I am also an artist and musician, and will use art therapy as a process to release and open the doorway to healing. I believe in a holistic approach, which covers all aspects of your life.
I use several approaches to suit who I’m working with. I am well-grounded with cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, hypnotherapy, and Te Whare Tapa Wha.
I have worked with many diverse and amazing people over my career. Whilst people come to counselling to seek help, I am able to guide you to release your potential. All I ask, is that you too commit to the process.
I have been around social services since I was a child. My sister has intellectual disabilities, so I learnt from young, what it’s like as a whanau to have multiple people from agencies coming and going. From there I learnt to be realistic, honest, transparent, but most of all… tap into the amazing qualities that you the individual already has but may not fully be aware of…yet.
Given those early tools, I have worked front line in challenging situations to bring about good outcomes for distressing circumstances.
I have supervised many staff over the years being in management positions. 10+yrs management exp supervising staff both internally and externally. I am in the process of completing formal study to endorse my supervision skills.
