Counselling Services

As a counsellor I aim to help you gain a greater understanding of why you feel, think and behave in the way you do and so allow you to have greater choices in how you live your life.

If any of the following are issues for you then together we can work towards developing insight and skills to manage these

  • feeling stuck in an area of life
  • unable to cope
  • relationship issues with others and yourself
  • abuse and trauma
  • depression
  • anxiety
  • communication skills
  • stress
  • grief and loss
  • anger
  • low self esteem
  • difficulty in setting boundaries
  • lack of self-compassion
  • anxiety
  • personal development
  • self-caring

Together we can work towards developing insight and skills to manage and work through problems you are experiencing. You will be listened to empathically and supported in developing an understanding as to what is happening for you.

I can also assist you to discover how past patterns influence the present. These new insights create freedom to explore choices around change

I am passionate about providing counselling in a safe, confidential and non-judgmental space. I can provide a comfortable place where what is troubling you can be heard, understood and explored.

Counselling Approach

My approach is eclectic which allows me to utilise a varied toolkit of approaches and strategies to best meet your needs and expectations.

I use a person-centred collaborative counselling approach as well as solution focussed therapy and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). These approaches are supported with sand tray, art therapy and symbol work, when it’s appropriate. It is my hope and belief that my clients find this versatility powerful in supporting positive change.

Clients find me warm and encouraging; enjoy my capacity to help them build on their qualities and skills to move forward. I have always been interested in people and their stories, and will enjoy hearing your story.

I abide by the NZ Association of Counsellors Code of Ethics.

Background and Experience

I have worked with Youthline Manukau as a face to face counsellor for the past 7 years and am now venturing into private practice also.

My prior work experience has been in the health field as an enrolled nurse, registered nurse, and in quality improvement for over 30 years. More recently I have been involved in clinical governance work and remain in this area on a part time basis.

I enjoy travel, fishing, movies, my cat and spending time with family and friends.
