In Memory of Evan Sherrard
With sadness we acknowledge the death of our founder of Transactional Analysis in Auckland, Evan Sherrard. He died in hospital on 20th October, aged 81, and was farewelled on 24th at a huge funeral at St Luke’s, Remuera. He was a man of tremendous vision and energy, setting up the Human Development Team at PSSA in 1976 (later known as Presbyterian Support). Through this Team of skilled supervisors and trainers he enabled high-quality training of leaders for many community mental-health services, from chaplaincy to ethics to the Psychotherapy Department at AIT (later AUT).
We all miss his warm-hearted presence, his cheeky humour, his perceptiveness and care for the suffering. A book about his life and work is now under production.
