Over 25 years experience helping people become more at home with who they are, so they can achieve a balance and stability that restores the natural flow of their lives and enhances their capacity for creative self-expression.
We would all like to live in a safe, comfortable home, a place that reflects our innate wish for balance and stability and creative self-expression. The outcome of psychotherapy can result in a feeling of being more ‘at home’ with yourself. Your inner home continues to be built throughout your lifetime. Psychotherapy will help you to clear out the things that are no longer useful to you, and replace them with others that will restore the natural flow of your life.
With my 25 years experience as a counsellor and psychotherapist I can help you to:
With a background in interior design I like the metaphor of being an ‘interior designer’ of the inner world. I’ll offer you my expertise, but you decide what you would like to build, restore, expand or add to your inner world. This process can lead to a sense of being more ‘at home’ with yourself, thus creating a base for rewarding relationships and a more meaningful life. We will work together in a collaborative way and I hope to earn your trust by providing a safe and nurturing therapeutic relationship.
I work well with a wide range of clients on the full continuum from short term brief therapy to long term psychotherapy for longstanding issues, supported by my training in psychodynamic therapy, CBT and Integrative Gestalt therapy.
I came to New Zealand 30 years ago. While I began my career in the health professions doing bodywork, coming into contact with my clients trauma led me on to studying psychotherapy, and I now have over 30 years’ experience working as a counsellor and psychotherapist. During this time I have worked, in refugee agencies in Auckland and Australia, and more recently for 14 years as a psychotherapist for the Auckland District Health Board. I also have both clinical management and project management experience within the NGO service.
The strength of my experience is that I work well with a wide range of clients from diverse cultural, ethnic and religious background.
