Inner Strength Counselling

Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life, and you will call it fate.
– C.G Jung

Whether you know what the problem is, or just have a sense that something is not right or enough in your life – I am here to help. I’m your ally in overcoming blockages to your vitality, to moving forward toward experiencing a renewed sense of adventure.

Everyone deserves to reach their full potential. The good news is that your brain can rewire itself. It is never too late for you to learn new, effective strategies for overcoming your difficulties.

I support you to gain awareness of yourself and the issues that underlie recurring challenges. We swap unconscious responses that aren’t working – or even are harmful – with conscious workable strategies to living a vital life, aligned with your goals and values.

I provide both short- and long-term therapy. My practice is LGBTIQ friendly and I am committed to the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi.

I have worked with people with various difficulties, including:

  • stress and anxiety
  • panic attacks
  • depression
  • substance / behavioural addictions
  • relationship difficulties
  • ADHD
  • (C)PTSD/trauma
  • social confidence
  • eating disorders & body image issues
  • major life decisions
  • issues of self-worth, betrayal and abandonment
  • existential & spiritual dilemmas
  • workplace group supervision, team cohesion and conflict moderation

Transformative Counselling

I provide an environment of safety and trust for increased personal awareness and growth. The space I offer is welcoming, open, calm, warm, kind, friendly, empathic, encouraging, affirming, validating, accepting, compassionate, optimistic, hopeful, creative, sensitive, curious, responsive, non-blaming, non-judgmental; sometimes fun and other times perhaps challenging.

I am here for you every step of the way, and everything we discuss is entirely confidential.

I have learned, through hard times of my own, the importance of looking after my own mental health as a daily practice. You will leave sessions with ideas for effective practices for enhancing your quality of life.

Holistic, integrative, trauma informed, embodied counselling

I am trained in a range of evidence-based therapies, such as somatic experiencing, compassionate inquiry and IFS (aka, parts work), which I tailor to your individual needs and values. I integrate modern methods with ideas from traditional wisdom practices, such as yoga, martial arts and shamanism. It is often the cultivating of balance in life and self-care that brings about wellbeing, and positive transformation in the inner and outer worlds.

Embodiment-mindfulness skills training and awareness of the body-mind connection are a key component.

Couples therapy and sexuality issues

I coach couples in the skills of communication, deep connection, empathy, and trust; how to manage boundaries, disagreements and conflicts; codependency, affairs, polyamory (open relating), break-ups and co-parenting.

I also support both women and men in overcoming sexuality related challenges.
