Originally from a small farm in Nelson, I currently live in Wellington. I am lucky to be able to have conversations with people to assist them moving in a more preferred direction.
My style of counselling is straightforward, easy and honest. How counselling happens is very flexible and will be worked out with the person coming to see me. I aim to provide a safe, collaborative environment for helpful conversations.
There are a range of approaches to counselling. And although I don’t claim to adhere strictly to one modality, my practice encompasses elements from several different types of counselling. There are elements from modalities such as Client Centred Practice, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Solution Focussed Therapy and Motivational Interviewing among others.
While counselling is similar in many ways to talking to a trusted friend or elder, there are differences. Counsellors are specifically trained, receive ongoing professional supervision and training, and are completely private. Counselling can be a safe place to explore, dump/download, talk about possible solutions or things to try, all in a confidential space.
If you would like to have a quick zoom or phone call to see if I might be a good fit, please get in touch. I’m also happy to answer any questions, and there’s no pressure to commit to meeting with me.
A meeting with me is currently $110. If you hold a Community Services Card I can offer a small number of discounted sessions. Feel free to get in touch to discuss this ; there's no commitment required :-)
If you live in Wellington we can meet in-person at my room on Willis Street. I can also meet digitally via zoom or on the phone if that works better.
