Counselling Approach

Taking the first step into counselling can feel daunting, which is why creating a safe, comfortable space is my top priority. I focus on building a genuine, warm connection with you, rooted in a client-centred practice where you feel truly heard and valued.

My approach balances empathetic, non-judgmental emotional processing with practical, real-world strategies. In our sessions, we will:

  1. Explore & Understand: Share the challenges bringing you to therapy and look at how they are currently impacting your life.

  2. Collaborate on Goals: Discuss what is important to you and clarify your expectations for therapy.

  3. Strategize: Tailor a personalized plan that combines evidence-based techniques with your individual goals, moving at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

To best support your unique journey, I flexibly integrate various therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Narrative Therapy.

Experience

My practice is shaped by a diverse background in supporting people through life’s many seasons. My early experience includes teaching and facilitating programs for families, individuals, and children within church ministry and school settings. I later honed my skills in university counselling centres and with Youthline, developing a strong passion for helping young adults navigate the unique challenges of early adulthood. Through this work, I gained extensive expertise in crisis assessment and connecting high-risk individuals with vital mental health supports.

As a former wellbeing specialist, I have delivered holistic mental health services within corporate environments, providing both individual therapy and group teamwork facilitation.

I bring both deep professional knowledge and lived experience to my work with neurodiversity—particularly ADHD. I love helping individuals discover practical tools and mindset shifts that transform daily challenges into strengths.

I strictly abide by the New Zealand Christian Counselling Association’s (NZCCA) Code of Ethics and engage in regular, ongoing professional supervision to ensure my practice remains safe, ethical, and high-quality.
