Dr Karen Faisandier

Clinical Psychologist

About Me

I’m an experienced clinical psychologist with a passion for helping adults navigate stress, burnout, anxiety, trauma, and relational challenges in an evidence-based, holistic way. After working in a hospital-based mental health and addiction service (2013-2016), I have run my Wellington-based integrative clinic for the past decade.

Much of my work is with people who have experienced sustained stress or pressure – those who feel worn down, overwhelmed, or disconnected from themselves. I take a collaborative, compassionate approach, getting to know each person and their story, so we can work together to personalise strategies that restore balance, rebuild vitality, and support meaningful change.

Therapy Approach

I draw on a range of evidence-based therapies, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), and trauma-focused approaches such as Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing (EMDR). My work is also informed by Attachment Theory, which helps in understanding how early relational patterns can impact adult mental health and relationships. Therapy with me is collaborative and tailored to you – we explore strategies that fit your life, your priorities, and your values.

Alongside psychological therapies, I bring training in nutritional and lifestyle medicine, which helps me consider how nutrition, gut health, and lifestyle interact with mental health. I love supporting people to understand the connection between mind and body, and to make changes that feel practical, sustainable, and aligned with their goals.

Who I Work With

My approach is best suited to adults (18+) living in Wellington who are open to a holistic, integrative approach and seeking support for:
