Anthea Hall

Child and Youth Psychotherapist

As a Child Youth Psychotherapist I provide high-quality, evidence-based psychotherapy and counselling services to vulnerable children, adolescents, and families, with a strong focus on trauma-informed care, cultural competency, and holistic approaches. This includes conducting comprehensive assessments, developing personalised treatment plans, and delivering both individual and family therapy sessions.

I create a safe, supportive space where my clients can express themselves through play, sand tray therapy, and talk therapy, depending on their developmental stage and needs. I understand that therapy is a journey, not a quick fix, and I work to help youth process their emotions in a way that feels natural and meaningful to them.

Parents are an essential part of this process. While ensuring I respect and uphold the confidentiality of the client, I also provide parent-only sessions that offer feedback and guidance, helping you understand emerging themes, noticing shifts at home, and setting realistic expectations for progress. When beneficial, I also incorporate shared sessions, with parent and young person, to support the therapeutic work. Every family is different— when working with young clients, some parents prefer regular check-ins via email or calls, while others are comfortable trusting the process with periodic updates.

With children, I am able to work through art and play, to help them identify, communicate and heal anxieties, fears, and behaviours that are causing distress for them and their families.

With adolescents, I offer individually focused talk therapy, often accompanied by resources and activities to help understand themselves better.

I tailor my approach to what best supports the young person’s growth while maintaining a strong therapeutic alliance. My goal is to help your child or adolescent feel seen, heard, and understood, fostering emotional resilience and positive change in a lasting way.

I offer an approach that is curious but respectful, with a goal of really hearing my clients out. I am trained in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, a talking therapy that helps children and parents understand their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, by recognising the emotions, patterns of behaviour, relationships, and past experiences that are contributing to their distress.

I will help you and your young person identify the root cause of problems, assist in the development of self-awareness, recognise triggers and develop coping strategies, with a goal of fostering long term self-regulation and resilience.
