Sharing your 'Slice of Life'

I am an experienced counsellor, public speaker and facilitator. I work to bring out the best in people, and assist individuals, families, and companies to navigate their way through a variety of challenging circumstances.

Counselling is a safe confidential space for you to process your “slice of life” with someone who acknowledges the uniqueness of every experience and who knows the value of sharing the journey together and the thrill of growing one’s capacity and discovering strengths that support you to do more than just cope. Life is full of “good stuff” and “not so good stuff,” all of which can impact on our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being. Talking things through and implementing a plan can help relieve symptoms, promote healing, maintain balance and restore joy.

I welcome the opportunity to share your current “slice of life” with you and consider it a great privilege to do so.

I can help you with

  • Grief and loss
  • Family dynamics
  • Life transitions
  • Managing emotions
  • Anxiety and Depression
  • Couples therapy
  • Parenting support
  • Workplace issues

  • Pause, process, reflect and grow in a safe confidential space.

  • Grow healthy relationships with yourself and others.
  • Externalise problems and address them in an objective way
  • Discover and develop your toolbox of strengths.
  • Embrace change and celebrate growth
  • Feed hopefulness and foster resilience.

My counselling approach

I operate a person-centred, strength-based practice and acknowledge I am not the expert in your life, rather serve to support you to grow your life in positive ways.  I operate from a foundation of empathy, respect and unconditional positive regard. I will listen to your experience, elicit strengths and use my skillset to facilitate movement towards your goals. I seek to provide practical tools and psycho-education that will support you to manage your emotions, facilitate change, promote confidence and increase levels of hopefulness.

I have a lot of experience in brief intervention counselling and have witnessed many times the personal growth and positive shifts that can occur in just 3-6 sessions, however longer-term support may also be appropriate depending on the presenting issues. From my end, the most important thing is that communication is open and transparent and that the journey is taken together.

Background and experience

I am privileged to have spent 25+ years of my professional life working with people of all ages and stages of life both in a pastoral and a counselling capacity, resulting in a wealth of experience.

I am a person of Christian faith and consider this my best life choice. Like most people my life experiences have included joys and sorrows. I have had many blessings and also found myself in the trenches of grief and loss.  I have learned that no season lasts forever and witnessed the beauty that can be found in brokenness.  I offer a non-judgemental, compassionate and respectful counselling experience that is honest and sincere. I have experience working with people from all walks of life, from a variety of cultural and religious backgrounds navigating a whole host of different issues and have found that as human beings we all have more in common than we have different.

Supervision Services

I offer clinical supervision to counsellors and those working in pastoral roles. The saying “You can’t give what you haven’t got” rings true. It is important to be addressing capacity, pausing to take care of yourself and to receive encouragement, so that you can continue to work safely, ethically and with joy.

Supervision is a supportive space …

  • To celebrate what you are doing well
  • To voice challenges, identify frustrations and other constraints in a safe supportive environment.
  • To reflect on your experiences and explore the learning and meaning to be found in them
  • To consider different ideas and possibilities.
  • To monitor capacity and consider choices.
  • To discuss ethical dilemmas
  • To review skills and identify appropriate professional development.
