Counselling and Psychotherapy for Children and Adolescents

About me and my approach

I understand that going to therapy can stir up some nerves and be very difficult at times, so when we meet together I always aim to work at your pace and to be warm and understanding. Having worked as a counsellor in a lot of schools, I understand that there are many common challenges specific to being a child or teenager, but also that everyone’s experience is very unique. Because of this I try to understand you as the unique individual you are, whilst also holding knowledge about common psychological and behavioural challenges particular to your developmental/life stage. It is also my experience that although therapy can be hard work, it can be a lot of fun!

My counselling/psychotherapy approach is pluralistic, meaning I have been trained in a range of approaches and can use them to fit your needs. Some examples of these approaches are:

  • CBT – exploring the interplay of your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours
  • Narrative Therapy – exploring how your feelings and behaviours are linked to stories you hold about yourself and your world
  • Psychodynamic Psychotherapy – exploring how childhood experiences influence your life and relationships currently
