Deborah Lighter

(she/they) Registered Psychotherapist

I am a Pākehā psychotherapist with many years of experience supporting young people and adults in mental health care. I now work with adults and young people 18 or older. I have training in counselling, psychology and psychotherapy, so can adapt how I work to suit your needs.

People often come to therapy feeling stuck or unhappy without knowing why. I aim to provide a safe, warm space in which you can talk about whatever is on your mind.  I work together with you towards more clarity, ease and a more satisfying life. I often focus on relationships, especially how past experience might be affecting the present.

I have worked with people struggling with:

  • anxiety and depression
  • grief and loss
  • work
  • health
  • migration
  • neurodiversity and identity
  • life transitions
  • healing from difficult experiences in childhood, family or relationships
